Eating Disorders Nutrition Counseling

Why We Treat Eating Disorders

Eating Disorders take many faces. Though Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa are the most well-known, other types of disordered eating are widespread, including Binge Eating Disorder, Compulsive Eating, Night Eating Syndrome, Orthorexia Nervosa, Bigorexia, and Eating Disorders Not Otherwise Specified (EDNOS). The statistics on these disorders are only estimates, since many go undiagnosed, but it is thought that up to 24 million have one of the main types of eating disorders. Sadly, out of all mental illnesses, eating disorders have the highest mortality rate and only 1 in 10 are treated. These disorders affect both men and women of all ages, though the prevalence in adolescents, athletes, and females tends to be greater.

There is hope. By taking a Mindful Eating approach, set apart by a focus on compassion, self-care, and respect for the body, you can be freed from the tight grip of your Eating Disorder. You can experience freedom, a newfound love for yourself and your body, and feel comfortable around food.

How We Can Help

Our approach is tailored to you and is free from judgment. We will break everything down into small, manageable steps that will enable you to gain victory over your Eating Disorder one step at a time.  Not sure where to start? We will create an individualized program with you, taking into consideration all your needs and concerns, whether that means confronting your specific Eating Disorder attributes and “food rules”, addressing body image, writing affirmations, creating positive coping skills and more.
