Breakfast is by far the most fun meal of the day. What could beat berries and yogurt, crepes and maple syrup, eggs and tempeh bacon?
Sandwiches are also great for breakfast. They are an opportunity to meld your favorite morning flavors together and take a fork and knife to a stack of super duper-ness.
Once a week, my husband and I like to cook fried eggs and tempeh bacon in a skillet while homemade bread toasts in the oven. We also like to slice up some avocado and have some butter or other spread to go with our toast.
It’s as if Sabra was peeking at our plates and thinking, “How about we help Michaela have a SUPER DUPER breakfast?!”. Sabra Spreads inspired me to put all these ingredients together for a delicious breakfast sandwich loaded with fresh ingredients and flavors. The squeeze bottle makes it easy to get the spread from bottle to bread, and Sabra Spreads have 75% less fat than mayo. They’re made with hummus, so the main ingredients are chickpeas, non-GMO soybean oil and tahini. AND there’s three flavors to keep your sandwiches interesting: Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper, Honey Mustard, and Garlic Herb.
Here is my inspired breakfast sandwich creation. What will you make with Sabra Spreads?
Makes 1 Sammich
1 slice homemade whole wheat bread, toasted
2 Tbsp (or much more) Sabra Spreads Sea Salt and Cracked Pepper
3 slices tempeh bacon, browned in a skillet
1/4 avocado, sliced
1 egg, fried sunny side up
toasted sesame seeds and sea salt, optional
Spread Sabra Spreads on toasted bread. Top with tempeh bacon, avocado and egg. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and additional salt as desired.
Enjoy your super duper mayo-less sammich!
